Overview
PresidLE ("we," "our," or "the Service") is a daily presidential guessing game. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
Data We Collect
- Game data: Your guesses, game results, streaks, and statistics. This is stored to track your progress and display on the leaderboard.
- Account information: If you create an account, we store your email address, display name, and preferences (such as confetti settings and hard mode).
- Email reminders: If you create an account, your email address is automatically enrolled in daily reminder emails. You can turn reminders off at any time in settings or by using the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Cookies: We use a session cookie to identify returning players and keep game progress attached to your browser. This cookie contains a randomly generated token and does not track you across other websites.
- Session recordings: We use OpenReplay to record anonymized browsing sessions for debugging and improving the user experience. These recordings capture page interactions but do not capture passwords or sensitive form inputs.
Cookies and Session Replay
PresidLE uses essential cookies to save progress, preserve sign-in state, and keep the game working. When you acknowledge the cookie notice, we also enable OpenReplay session recordings for debugging.
- Essential cookies: These stay active because the game cannot function without them. They store guest progress, authentication state, and reminder-prompt preferences. They do not track you across other websites.
- Session replay: OpenReplay starts only after you acknowledge the cookie notice. It helps us identify and fix bugs. No advertising or cross-site tracking is performed.
- Changing your notice acknowledgment: Clear your browser cookies for presidle.com and the cookie notice will reappear on your next visit.
How We Use Your Data
- To operate the game and track your progress
- To display the public leaderboard (you can opt out in settings)
- To send daily reminder emails to account holders by default, unless they opt out
- To improve the game experience through session replay analysis
- To generate and verify game content using AI services
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate PresidLE:
- Vercel: Hosting and deployment
- Neon: Database and authentication
- Resend: Email delivery for daily reminders
- OpenReplay: Session replay for debugging
- Google AI (Gemini): Content generation and fact-checking for game clues
- Inngest: Background job processing
Each service has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them if you have concerns about how your data is processed.
Data Retention
Game data and account information are retained as long as your account is active. Email subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Session recordings are retained according to OpenReplay's retention policies. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
Your Rights
- Opt out of emails: Unsubscribe via the link in any email or through your account settings. Creating an account enrolls you in reminders by default until you opt out.
- Hide from leaderboard:Toggle "Show on Leaderboard" off in your account settings.
- Delete your data: Contact us to request full deletion of your account and associated data.
- Access your data: Contact us to request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Children
PresidLE is a general audience game. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
